- Trout do most of their feeding underwater & anglers will catch more trout on wet flies & nymphs
- Rivers are flowing high & cold, there is little or no surface activity & fish are eating larval insects
- Wet flies are ideal in these conditions because they imitate the larval insects that fish are hunting
- The nice thing about fishing wet flies is that they can be fished anywhere you find trout & by using many different methods of presenting the fly to the fish
- There is no set right or wrong way to fish these flies
- Fishing wet flies to a rising fish during a hatch can many times be more productive than fishing a dry
- These flies can be fished upstream dead drift, upstream with imparted motion, across stream dead drift & across with imparted action, as well as the traditional down & across with the wet-fly swing
